Using the Background track

The Background Track is in fact a video track whose only task is to keep the Movie Viewer Window (and the movie itself) expanded to the desired size set in the New QuickTime Movie dialog box. It also provides a specified background color for the movie. If you were not to have a Background Track when creating a new movie, the movie would shrink to a size of '0,0' because there would be no visible content. To demonstrate this, simply create a new movie and delete the Background Track; the Movie Viewer shrinks to '0,0'.

Once you add visible content to the movie and then delete the Background Track, the Movie Viewer window (that is, the movie) will be resized to the resulting boundary of the remaining tracks.

Select a track either in the Movie Viewer window or in the Track list in the TimeLine Window to edit or change the track in Layout Editing view.
